Effect of Temperature on the Rate of Alkaline Hydrolysis of Acid
Esters in Concentrated Aqueous Solutions of Et4NCl

The rate of alkaline hydrolysis of 4-nitrophenyl toluenesulfonate, 4-nitrophenyl diethylphosphate and 4-nitrophenyl-N,N-dimethyl carbamate by Et4NCl were studied in the concentrated aqueous solutions of Et4NCl (0÷4.5 mol/L) at 15, 25, 40, and 60 oC. Effect of Et4NCl on the reaction rate was explained on the basis of the action of the electrolyte on the structure of water. It is shown that the rate increase due to change in solvation component of free activation energy.
